David Rastall studied classical guitar with Vicente Gomez in Los Angeles and Seiko Sesoko in Anaheim, CA.  His interest in early music led him to study renaissance lute with Donna C
urry in Los Angeles.  He continued his studies with lutenists Ronn MacFarlane and Richard Stone.  He has performed in master classes with lutenists Toyohiko Satoh, Paul O’Dette, Ronn MacFarlane and Richard Stone, and Guitarists Michael Newman and Manuel Barrueco.  David has performed as a recitalist on both lute and classical guitar as a soloist, and also with the early-music ensembles “David Rastall and Friends” founded by Bobbie and David Rastall in 1993, and “Music For A While” founded by Bobbie and David Rastall and Russ Johnson in 2007.  He has sung bass and countertenor in numerous early-music vocal ensembles including the Grand Rapids Choir Of Men And Boys, the Handel Choir of Baltimore and the Bach Concert Series in Baltimore and Carmina in Falls Church, VA.  He is a performing member of the Washington Friday Morning Music Club, and has taken part in many of their recitals in the Washington DC area, including the Dumbarton House, the Museum of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Fairfax Old Town Hall, the National Cathedral and Strathmore Hall.  David is also an enthusiastic performer on recorders and Baroque wooden flutes.
